Life Story for Gertrude Lane (Mahoney)

Gertrude Lane (Mahoney)
On November 8, 2014 Gertrude Lane went home to be with the Lord.
Gertrude Mahoney was born on October 11, 1924 in Mount Holly Virginia to the Late Emily and Thomas Mahoney. She was educated in the Virginia school system.
Gertrude married the Late Benjamin Franklin Lane and had seven children: Richard Thomas (VA), Mary Frances(deceased), Allan Benjamin, Carol Ann, George Ralph (deceased), William Franklin (deceased), Daniel Edward (deceased). The marriage ended leaving Gertrude with the task of raising her children alone. She worked as a Domestic Engineer to support her family. She was always willing to share what she had with neighbors and friends. Her faith in the Lord kept her going.
Gertrude accepted the Lord at an early age. She served as President on the Majestic Temple Baptist Church choir until the church folded. She then became a member of New Gethsemane Baptist Church which she attended until her health began to fail.
As her health failed and she was no longer able to properly care for herself, she spent her final days in Ivy Hill Nursing home. She enjoyed her stay there, participating in games and other activities.
She leaves to mourn: 3 children, Richard (Richmond, VA; Allan (Ann) and Carol Rivers; one sister, Catherine Newman; 3 daughters in law; 29 grand, 53 great grand and 14 great great grand; a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
