Obituary

Sylvester M. Fisher, Sr., lovingly known as “Bob” was born to the late John Ozzie Fisher, Sr. and the late Johnnie Mae Boyd Fisher on September 10th, 1933. He was the third of seven children and educated in the Philadelphia School System.
He was a popular young man and a worker from a teenager on up. He owned his own business called, Broad Street Beef Co. and employed many people in the community as well as family. Because of the popularity of Broad Street Beef Co., he became a legend in North Philadelphia.
In his early years, he met and married Daisy Knights and from this union was three children- Cheryl {Peaches} (Larry), Sylvester Jr. (Yvette {Vecky}), and Coleen {Pookie} (Derek Sr.). Daisy proceeded him in death. He attended Bright Hope Baptist church and later joined Christlike Pleasant Green Faith Baptist Church where he was a trustee for many years and served on the Building Fund committee. He met and married Alice Carter and became the step-father to James Carter, Ruthy (Timothy) and Dianna (Martell). Alice proceeded him in death.
In 1992, he met Lila Beard and married her on July 17th, 1993. He became the step-father to Lester (Stephanie), Joseph and Orlando {Keith} (Vangela). He loved sports and loved his Philadelphia Eagles. He and Mom Lila would lovingly fight over her love for the Cowboys. He loved holidays and family gatherings. Food and family were one of his many specialties. He was a true family man, a good provider and a sharp dresser. You can always find him wearing a pair of Stacy Adams shoes. He and his wife loved to be dressed and color coordinated to the nines!
Bob leaves to mourn, his devoted and loving wife of twenty-eight years, Lila, his children, his siblings: Joel H. Fisher (Nora), Dorothy (Steve), proceeding him in death: John Jr., Raymond Allen, Eugene L. Sr., and Betty Ann, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, a special #1 granddaughter Kasey Fisher, a special god-brother, Martin Chappell (Zell), a special brother, Neblett, a special son, Joe Dixon (Dot), in-laws: Mary (Frank), Marjorie (Robert), LucyMae, Cheryl, Rose, Barbara, Dorothy, Buena, and Harvey, a host of nieces and nephews, and family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Sorrowfully submitted by the family.

HOW DO I LOVE THEE? LET ME COUNT THE WAYS, I LOVE THEE TO THE DEPTHS, BREATH, AND HEIGHT MY SOUL CAN REACH WHEN FEELING OUT OF SIGHT. FOR THE END OF BEING AND IDEAL GRACE.

I LOVE THEE TO THE LEVEL OF EVERYDAY’S MOST QUIET NEED, BY SUN AND CANDLE LIGHT. I LOVED THEE FREELY AS MEN STRIVE FOR RIGHT. I LOVE THEE PURELY AS THEY TURN FROM PRAISE. I LOVE THEE WITH A PASSION PUT TO USE, IN MY GRIEF AND MY CHILDHOOD’S FAITH. I LOVE THEE WITH A LOVE I SEEM TO LOSE WITH MY LOST SAINTS.

I LOVE THEE WITH THE BREATH, SMILES, TEARS OF ALL MY FAITH, AND IF GOD CHOOSES, I SHALL BUT LOVE THEE THE SAME EVEN AFTER DEATH.

THIS POEM WAS WRITTEN BY ELIZABETH BARRETT BROWNING.

BUT IT DISCRIBES HOW I FEEL. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE LAST WORDS THAT YOU SAID TO ME. AND I SHALL ALWAYS CARRY THEM WITH ME DEEP DOWN IN MY HEART. THE WORDS THAT YOU SPOKE TO ME WAS “HON, THANK YOU FOR BEING MY WIFE, AND LOVING ME, FOR BEING THE BEST WIFE EVER, AND MY BEST FRIEND”. I WILL REMEMBER THOSE WORDS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. I PRAY ALSO THAT YOU KNEW THAT YOU WAS TRULY MY LOVE, AND MY BEST FRIEND ALSO. I ALSO KNOW THAT THERE WASN’T ANYTHING THAT YOU WOULDN’T DO FOR ME. LOVING YOU WASN’T HARD YOU TOOK CARE OF ME AND I’M GOING TO FOREVER MISS YOU UNTIL GOD CALLS ME HOME TO SEE YOU AGAIN, I WON’T SAY GOODBYE, I’LL JUST SAY FAREWELL UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.

YOUR WIFE LILA.!!!!!! !!!!
