Obituary for Troy A. Coward

Troy Anthony Coward was born on June 16th 1992 in Philadelphia to Anthony (Troy) Coward and Kwanda Knight.
Troy attended Mt. Airy Christian Day School during his early years. Then he went to Shawmont School in Roxborough to complete the remainder of his elementary years. Troy completed his high school diploma at Caesar Rodney High school in Camden, Delaware in 2010. More recently, upon return from the military, Troy attended Community College of Philadelphia to pursue an Electrical Engineering degree. He had one more semester to graduate.
During Troys early years in Philadelphia, he attended the Mt. Airy COGIC where he was active in Sunday school, the church’s basketball team, Camp Heart to Heart, Gods Little Voices and Voices of Victory Choirs, and became a part of the Audio/Visual team working the cameras and sound system for the church. Troy continued his basketball journey during his high school years earning several awards for his talent.
Troy entered the US Navy at 18 years old, in February of 2011, and graduated in April 2011 with record breaking swimming abilities that remain posted at the basic training facilities in the Great Lakes today. Troy was then assigned to Hawaii as his main station where he remained for 4 years serving as a rescue diver. He again received an award for becoming the youngest, highest ranking officer within his first 2 years of service. Troy traveled to Spain, Africa, Italy, and Japan during his military service. Troy decided to leave the military after his 4 years of service and returned home. He worked in several positions in the medical field upon return while going to college.
In 2014, while still in Hawaii, Troy and Jasmine Jesus, gave birth to his first daughter, Amare’-Rose Coward. In 2018 and 2019, Troy and Medeneh Reese gave births to Bella Coward and Blaire Coward in Philadelphia. He leaves his three girls to carry on his memories and big smile.
Troy departed this earthly life on May 24th, 2021. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his three daughters, Amare-Rose Sharon Coward, Bella Arise Coward, and Blaire Azelia Coward; his mother and step-father, Kwanda and Tony Knight, his father Anthony (Troy) Coward (fiancée, Ellen Baker), his grand mother, Sandra Coward, his grand fathers, Andy Coward and Jimmy Battle, his Great Aunt, Barbara Island, and his sister (his twin), Le’Shay Coward. Troys grandmother, Sharon Battle, preceded him in death. His cousin, Nyla Battle, who was raised more as his little sister, had a special place in his heart. He leaves his 3 step-siblings (Vynesha, Jonathan, and Maya), his God parents (Karen, Sherri, Matoka and Jerry), a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that will miss him greatly.
