Life Story for Georgianna Rivers

Georgianna Rivers
Georgianna Eleanora Rivers went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2014. She was the daughter of the late George Anderson and Rachel Tillman Anderson. Georgianna was the third of five children. Her parents, one sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

Georgianna was raised in Newfield, New Jersey and later moved to Philadelphia. She met and married Marshall Rivers and had 42 years of happiness. Georgianna was a member of Christlike Pleasant Green Faith Baptist Church for over 45 years. Georgianna first joined the Usher Board at Christlike Pleasant Green Faith Baptist Church. After showing a willingness to serve, a love of God and the love of her church, Georgianna was asked to be a member of the Trustee Aides. As the story goes, Rev. Small went to the funeral of a family member of Ardelia Coleman in White Plains, NY while they were there Rev. Small asked Ms. Coleman to restart the trustee aide board. So she asked Georgianna, Queen Lewis, and Jean Pennick to join her. They worked on the Trustee Aide Board by themselves for many years and became very close friends.

Georgianna was employed at After Six Men’s Formal Wear, where she worked until she retired. She later was employed at Quality Community Health Center in North Philadelphia. She was known for her clothing, always wearing the latest fashions. She enjoyed traveling and had visited many states in the USA as well as Europe and the Carribean. There was always a great “Hello” from her when meeting you.

She leaves to mourn her loss, one daughter, Marian Wise, one sister, Bertha Jackson, and a constant companion, Ruby “Cheese” Cheeseborough. A sister-in-law, Josabell Pailin, and brother-in-law, James Rivers. A God-child, Cheryl Pollins, one nephew, Lawrence Anderson, Sr. (Gwen), four nieces, Sharon Waller, Debra Mason, Dolores Anderson, and Daisy Barnes. A host of great and great-great nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, church family and many, many friends.
